In order to facilitate the correct fitting of the teams participating in the competition, we present the sections to which you can enroll and a brief description of each subcategory as they are described in other national or international amateur competitions:
- Cheerleader Discipline:
A. Traditional Cheerleaders
– with pom-pon – (European fanfare model) The choreography of the teams that approach this style must be based on the march, without acrobatic elements, which can be combined with steps and movements specific to any other dance style. A cheerleader must perform the role of team captain (team leader) and differentiate himself by something distinct (costume color, hierarchical symbol, etc.). The costume of these cheerleaders must necessarily follow the line of military uniforms.
- twirling or baton – Twirling Baton choir can be a combination of marching steps or other dance steps, rhythmic gymnastics and agility in execution alike, turning the evolution into a sport as rarely as spectacular. The baton can be launched at high heights, and in the meantime the cheerleader can perform various simple gymnastics elements, then capture the stick with precision and naturalness. The more choreography is more dynamic, the more spectacular it becomes. Missing the object is sanctioned according to the rules! The costume of these cheerleaders can be made up of one or two pieces (skirt and tunic) and must contain some of the military characteristic in design.
B) Majorete / Show Dance
(In Romania this style is usually confused with a simple dance combined with tree-pom and gymnastics without taking into account the theme of dance, which is not in line with the European model). The choreographic theme of choice allows you to approach any dance style in combination with gymnastics. The choreography must have a name to have a horse theme (eg cawboy, angels, flowers, etc.). You can also make choreographies that have as theme a story (eg Red Hood – in which Squirt and Wolf are listed as soloists alongside the other cheerleaders as a whole)
This style is allowed:
Gymnastics (jumps, twists, pirouettes, leaps, other ties, not very complex, but executed with precision).
it is not allowed to pause in the choreography of the back row when performing the gymnastics, even if these elements are not performed by all the team members.
the boys’ presence is accepted
it is acceptable to stop in the picture if music and choreography allow it
you can use dance choices of your choice
the band of cheerleaders can be composed of one, two, three soloists depending on the chosen theme.
costumes must be appropriate to the chosen theme.
Note: In international competitions in this category it is permissible to use any instrument (except BATON / TWRLING).
C. Cheers with ACCESSORIES
– flags, flags, lights, scarves, umbrellas, etc.) Cheerleaders who choose choreography related to the accessories they want to use during evolution other than pom-poni and twirling. In this category, the costumes must be cheerful, even if they have specific adaptations to the theme of the dance.
D. Cheerleading DRILL (cheerleading in the band, no objects, no accessories)
Cheerleaders who have the appearance of a military formation (the movements are performed by the entire band of cheerleaders simultaneously) and in choreography there must be a combination of dancing steps of choice with specific military elements that are executed quickly especially with the arms. Ex: (hello, honor, change of formation, change of guard, strings, rows, etc.). The outfit must have something specific that is constantly highlighted during dance (usually gloves of a certain color, depending on the chosen costume)
E. Cheerleaders HOBBY DANCE based on a simple choreography without difficulty, performed on dance steps of various musical genres. The costumes are in agreement with the music.
F. MIX-MIX cheerleaders.
In a group / group a combination of MAXIM two instruments must be used.
A BATON A POM – PON
A BATON a Flag
A POM-PON a Flag (or others)
G. Majorete cheerleading /
American model cheerleaders (pyramids and acrobatics in the air). The choreography specific to this style has as its main element the acrobatic gymnastic movements, with elements that require extremely well-developed control, safety and flexibility. The spectacularness of such choreography is due to the pyramids and acrobatic jumping that each team performs. Pom-pon is not required because it may be uncomfortable with execution. This category may include boys. No high-risk acrobatic elements endangering body integrity or even life are allowed, the coach or coach of the team must necessarily take this into consideration and exclude risk items or provide qualified staff.
Specific rules for cheerleading cheerleaders:
It is not obligatory to use the pompons in order not to hurt the sockets.
The presence of boys is required to ensure the safety of execution.
The evolution will be on alert pace.
The costume should be one piece, and must be light and flexible, with all surface adhesion.
Exercises involving a major risk of injury are not permitted.
In order to avoid any injury, even a slight, the coach is obliged to ensure the distribution of qualified personnel (one instructor / coach) on the four lines of action ready to intervene whenever the situation so requires.
Gymnastics Aerobics Discipline:
a) aerobic gymnastics – light and / or complex elements of aerobic gymnastics (depending on the level of training of participants) designed on a musical background, performed in synchrony. Do not be confused with gymnastics. The costumes of this style must be made up of a single piece of clothing.
b) aerobic dance – standard aerobic dance steps combined with lightweight gymnastics performed in synchrony. The costumes for this style can be made according to the creativity of the instructor in several pieces of clothing.
c) tae -bo – combination of martial arts with aerobic gym elements designed on a musical background, synchronic execution. The costumes for this style can be made according to the creativity.
d) kangoo jumps – aerobics exercises with kangoo boots (only for participants over 15 years) synchronous execution of the elements. The costumes for this style can be made according to the creativity of the instructor, from several pieces of clothing, but they do not have to look like a dance costume.
e) zumba – Zumba uses a fusion of dances (from Colombian cumbia to merengue, salsa and calypso to hip hop, reggaeton, etc.) creating a dynamic, engaging and efficient program for synchronic executions. The costumes for this style can be made according to the creativity of the instructor in several pieces of clothing, but it does not have to look like a dance costume.
– Gimnastic Rithmic discipline:
Rhythmic gymnastics: (circles, ribbon, rope, balls, clubs, etc.) It is artistic gymnastics combined with objects. Each object has a special role: the rope develops the endurance and eliminates the psychic tension, the circle increases the coordination capacity, the ball strengthens the vigilance, twrling helps to create body movements and rhythmicity, and the ribbon comes with a touch of elegance and femininity, and you can choose any of these objects according to the abilities of the participants. Usually in this kind of amateur contests there is a show section whereby each instructor can put his own creativity in value.
